Overwhelmed by the world, sin swallowed me whole
And all was dark like the belly of a whale
It was lifeless down there the beasts crawled into my mind
Wrapping themselves around any hope they could find
I thought, “surely this is it, the end of it all, my bite of the fruit-the beginning of my fall”
But instead my Beloved reached to me with His grace and although it was dark I saw the light of His face
And all at once I joined Christ in the rising, a resurrection from the darkness inside me
I was washed by His blood and awkened by His voice, and with faint ringing bells I heard the angels rejoice
I continued to rise like the faithful morning sun, clinging to the promise of the glorious kingdom come.
Hallelujah, hallelujah Hope is alive.
